We offer a variety of social skills group therapy programs for a wide range of ages and abilities.  In addition to the groups listed below, please see the sidebar for more information on school year FIT and FIT camp.

At Nicole Gerami, LLC, we pride ourselves on providing the best social skills group therapy possible.  We have developed Friendship Groups for every age and ability level.  We know that children learn best when they are playing and that through play, children learn to communicate, take turns, share and ultimately, make friends.  Our social skills groups are a blend of the best-researched programs such as Social Thinking, the Zones of Regulation, and original lessons.  Groups are 45 minutes in length, led by one of our certified speech language pathologists, and designed so that the lesson curriculum is coordinated with the FIT Program’s.

Groups begin in September and are ongoing throughout the school year.

Each year we offer a fun winter mini-clinic to help kids keep their social skills sharp, their minds engaged, and their bodies moving over winter break!  Children are grouped by age and will enjoy exciting activities including movement, games, arts and crafts, theme-based literature, and social skills lessons. Kids participate in high-energy activities in the gym as well as some time in the classroom to slow down and engage in language rich activities.  Mini-Clinic occurs for 3-4 half days during winter break.

This unique outdoor camp occurs for the last two weeks in June.  Kids ages 3-12 develop social skills in a nature-based setting in Metroparks beautiful North Chagrin Reservation. This camp offers children an opportunity to experience a restorative natural environment while engaging in intensive exploration, games and outdoor play with peers. Spaces are limited and campers must meet certain developmental milestones in order to be eligible for registration.  Dates for 2020 are the weeks of June 15 and June 22, Monday-Friday, 9:00am-3:00pm. Registration is open.

Nicole Gerami LLC offers Preschool Play and Learn, for children ages 3 to 4 years who will be entering preschool in the fall.  The focus of the program is on developing and practicing skills needed to make a smooth transition to preschool.  Skills targeted include cooperative play, navigating transitions, vocabulary building, letter and number recognition, patterning, following directions, and asking and answering questions in a classroom context.  The program runs for two weeks later in the summer. Dates for 2020 are the weeks of August 3rd and August 10th, Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 9:00-12:00 pm.  Registration is open.

Our kindergarten readiness program provides an opportunity for rising kindergarteners to practice the skills needed to successfully navigate this important transition.  Children will enjoy phonological awareness activities, language-enriched book time, crafts, letter and number recognition activities, working on listening and following directions in a classroom context, and social skills practice.  The small group design and high staff/child ratio allows for ample support as children participate in activities. The program is held for two weeks later in summer. Dates for 2020 are the weeks of August 3rd and August 10th, Monday-Thursday from 9:00-12:00 pm.  Registration is open.

This group is designed for teens with high functioning autism or similar profiles who are preparing to enter college in the fall. The purpose of the group is to help get the students ready for life on campus, whether they are going away and living in a dorm or commuting from home.   Valuable skills to help with the transition from high school to college will be taught. These include navigating a campus and following a schedule, managing personal finances while at college, living with a roommate, hygiene and health, safety, finding friends, and handling social media.  Winter, spring and summer sessions are offered.

This program is designed to encourage the development of foundational language skills in children who have been diagnosed with autism or developmental delays. Caregivers accompany children ages 18-36 months to enhance learning of social skills, play skills and language skills by participating in stimulating, fun group activities.

In this outdoor program, children ages 3-5 will develop social skills with peers outdoors as autumn arrives in northeast Ohio. Students will enjoy story time at the Nature Center, hiking and outdoor exploration, snack time, social skills lessons, and engaging educational activities.
